There's a meaningful difference between "cleaning" and "disinfecting," and it matters more than most facilities realize. Cleaning removes visible soil. Disinfecting kills the pathogens — bacteria and viruses — that live on surfaces after cleaning is done. A restroom that looks spotless can still be covered in norovirus, influenza, MRSA, or SARS-CoV-2. A daycare toy that looks clean can transmit hand-foot-and-mouth. Real infection control requires both steps, in that order, using the right chemistry.

Colorado Cleaning Professionals runs a dedicated disinfection program that plugs into your existing janitorial scope or stands alone as a one-time or scheduled service. We use EPA-registered disinfectants — including EPA List N products approved against SARS-CoV-2 — and apply them per the label's specified contact time. Contact time is the piece most vendors get wrong: spraying and wiping in the same motion doesn't actually kill anything. We follow the dwell time on the label, every time.

For comprehensive coverage — especially in classrooms, waiting rooms, gyms, and daycare centers with dozens of complex surfaces — we deploy electrostatic sprayers. Electrostatic application charges the disinfectant droplets so they wrap around and cling to three-dimensional surfaces (the underside of desks, the back of door handles, the crevices of a keyboard) instead of just landing on flat tops. It's a fraction of the labor of manual wiping and a meaningful upgrade in surface coverage.

We build disinfection programs three ways. Routine: enhanced high-touch disinfection layered into your nightly janitorial program (door handles, light switches, shared equipment, restroom fixtures, breakroom surfaces). Scheduled: full-facility electrostatic treatments weekly, monthly, or quarterly for schools, gyms, medical facilities, and daycares. Emergency response: 24–48 hour turnaround after a confirmed exposure — flu outbreak, GI illness, COVID-19 case, or post-event decontamination.

Every disinfection service is documented. You get a service ticket showing what was treated, which EPA-registered product was used, and the technician who performed the work. That documentation matters for compliance-conscious environments — schools, medical offices, government facilities, food-adjacent operations — and it's how you demonstrate to staff, clients, and inspectors that infection control isn't just a promise, it's a process.
